What is the Deane Sinfonia?
The Deane
Sinfonia is an amateur orchestra whose members form an
eclectic mix of ages and backgrounds as well as playing
abilities. It is also a member of Making Music.

Is there a minimum standard?
No not
really. There's nothing official but it might be worth
bearing in mind that some pieces could be a bit taxing
for anyone under approximately a grade 5-ish sort of
standard.
What about rehearsals?
Rehearsals take place every Monday evening during term
time from 7.30pm - 9.30pm and are held downstairs in the
Irish Centre,
Council Road,
Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG21 3DH
(See contact us page for further information)
How often do performances take place?
The year is split in three to correspond with the school
term system with a concert taking place at the end of
every term. Performance venues in Basingstoke include
Queen Mary's College, The Walled Garden at Down Grange
and The Anvil.
How much would it cost to join?
There is no joining fee and no requirement to buy the
conductor a pint at the interval. The bad news is that
there is a subscription cost of £20 a term for working
members and £16 for the sick, lame, lazy and decrepit
(our most valued players).
Can I come along and see if it's the orchestra of my
dreams?
Of
course. See the contact us page.
